A Simama Africa-Nairobits collaboration bringing IT skills to the children and youth of Kariobangi Slums, Nairobi.
#SlumCoders
ICT Program
Our ICT program is implemented in collaboration with Nairobits and aims to equip the children and youth in Kariobangi Slum with hands-on computer and graphic design skills.
This has improved the employability of the trainees who wish to be employed while opening freelancing opportunities to those who prefer to venture into the world of self-employment.
Photography & Film
Photography and film is our latest initiative, running under the banner “Pass it on”. The program takes the young people through the basics of photography and filmmaking, with the aim of empowering them to tell the community’s tales in only the way someone who has lived in Kariobangi can do. We intend to capture all these pieces in a documentary that showcases the various facets of urban slums to give an all-round picture of what the slum hood is all about.
